GRE Prep ( Intro. )

This is a Blog i write pretty much only to me. It's been so long since I started this blog and there are not many people who read this. Therefore, I decided I do something like this.

This is a place where i keep posted about my prep patterns for the GRE examination.

To begin with, not until recently I knew the pattern of the examination and the score pattern.I have finished two years of my under graduation course and there are two more left.Once I get graduated here in India, the plan is to get my Master's degree in the US. Even though there are two more years to finish my degree, I chose to attempt the test earlier than i'm supposed to.

There are a few reasons for it.One, there is a lot of process to perform in order to get an admission there and secondly , I don't really want to spend the last few semesters of my academic sessions preparing for something of different style at the cost of my projects. Once I finish my tests and get my scores in my hand before the last few semesters, I can complete my final year in peace.

The usual practice I saw here is to attend a coaching for the test after the third year and write the test.
But, since i have an ample amount of time, I chose to go for self preparation. I've collected all the possible information one needs to begin the preparation and have attempted a diagnosis test and understood a few things

1. Quant section is comparatively simpler than the verbal and AWA sections. However, I find the "Data interpretation" section a bit tough. Besides, there are significantly more chances for me to commit errors in the "Quantitative Comparison" section.

2. Verbal is a big challenge to me, I feel comfortable speaking in English but the vocabulary is not very strong. There are several words in the dictionary which i haven't even seen in career. I'm not really proud to say, but, i'm not a reader at all. So, This section is one of the challenging sections on the test. During this prep course I wish I could build my vocabulary up. There is this website called magoosh where I found a few techniques to learn more new words.

3. The third section  is the Analytical Writing assessment. The essay section. I have a problem with essays. My ideas flow in a very random fashion and I face really a hard time in structuring those ideas and writing them. And there is no wonder this section is called the "Analytical Writing". It involves  analyzing the situation and framing adequate sentences and use suitably impressive words and make the language look stylish and elegant. Hence, it requires much attention too.

There is this link i found on the internet where there is a long list of situations and arguments that can be asked in the GRE as a part of the AWA section

This is the situation so far. I try to keep updating the blog and also use this skill to enhance the writing skills by using better vocabulary day by day.

This is the End of this blog post.
